Akume Renovates Alma Mater, Seeks Stronger Support for Tinubu

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Dr. George Akume, has urged the people of Benue State to sustain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to ensure the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the SGF, Akume made the call on Friday in Wanune, Tarka Local Government Area, where he handed over newly renovated structures of LGEA Primary School Wannune, his alma mater. The project, executed through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), also featured the establishment of a fully equipped ICT laboratory.
Overcome with emotion, the former Benue governor reflected on his early days at the school, saying: "Today is a very great day to me, and very fulfilling too as it sparks off some beautiful and well cherished memories of my life. My journey to stardom began here some many decades ago. The renovation of the entire school structures and fully equipped ICT Laboratory is part of my little contribution for the growth of my alma mater, and education of the state generally."
He continued: "I want to admonish you to continue to support my principal, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-In-Chief of the Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has initiated life changing initiatives that he alone has the drive and capacity to implement for the betterment of all citizens.
"As some of you are aware, the Makurdi-Katsina Ala Road reconstruction, Badagary-Sokoto Highway, Makurdi-Otukpo-9th Mile Road, Lagos-Calabar Super Highway and Enugu-Onitsha Express Way among other road infrastructures are currently ongoing with more to kick start soon to enhance economic growth across the country."
The Education Secretary of Tarka Local Government, Mr. Aondoakaa Kwaghbo, who received the school on behalf of the council, commended Akume for what he described as a modest but impactful gesture. He noted that the ICT centre would particularly boost computer literacy among pupils.
Performing the official handover, UBEC Executive Secretary, Hajiya Aisha Garba, praised the SGF for facilitating the project and lauded the warm reception accorded her delegation. She was accompanied by Engr. Sadiq Saad, Director of Physical Planning; Mr. Ibrahim Gold, Special Assistant to the ES; and Mr. Rasaq Juwon Akinyemi, Deputy Executive Secretary, Technical.
Also speaking, Ter Mbakor, His Royal Highness Gandeoron Gregory, who led other traditional rulers to the event, hailed Akume for continually projecting Mbakor people and Benue State on the national stage.
"My dearest son in whom am well pleased, Sen. Dr. George Akume, you have continued to be our source of pride. Today again, I stand in firm communion with the ancestors of our land to bless you, and also pledge total support to President Tinubu in his quest to reform the country," the monarch declared.
The SGF further encouraged locals to take advantage of the Federal Polytechnic, Wanune, which currently runs about 21 courses, and announced a scholarship scheme for pupils of LGEA Primary School Wannune.
