Journalists' Haters Have Something To Hide - AIG Zone 4

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone 4, Makurdi, Headquarters, Zachariah Fera Achinyan says, members of the public showing dislike for journalists have something bad to hide away from the rest of public members! He expressed the view when the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Benue State Council led by Chairman, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber paid him courtesy visit at the Zonal headquarters Makurdi, the state capital.

The AIG who assured of great cooperation to achieve more effective policing encouraged journalists to put searchlights on those believed to have hatred for the media. He said, the doors to his office were open for stronger cooperation with the media to enable him succeed on the job.

 AIG Achinyan advised the journalists to intimate him on challenges encountered in the course of the partnership meant to safeguard life and property across the zone.

Insisting that the journalism practitioners must focus on those with hidden intentions aimed at exposing those bad eggs of the society, the most top police officer in the zone counseled journalists to extend same searchlights to police personnel distancing selves from the media. According to the AIG, the practice of journalism does not reserve any safe haven for bad elements in society, let alone shielding a personal with hidden agenda!

In his speech, Comrade Ugber appreciated AIG Achinyan for the resolve to secure the zone notwithstanding the fact that the zone tends to become one of the most hotly crisis ridden places in the North Central Nigeria.

Ugber thanked the AIG also for the confidence reposed in the media as exemplified by the audience granted the Forum of Investigative Journalists, a unit in NUJ. Chairman Ugber clarified that he cleared the request made by the unit to visit the police boss and that the audience symbolized true partnership to celebrate.

He commended further that since assumption of duty in the zone, politicians have not been allowed to harass any journalist in the state. Urging the 43rd AIG for the Zone to keep doing the good work, the NUJ Chairman thanked the top cop for ensuring that the many numbers of road blocks have been reduced and eased flow of traffic on the highways!

On the other hand, the NUJ Chairman appealed to the AIG to extend the same measure to the rural areas where some personal appear suffocating the users of motorcycles
