UPDATE: More Students Receive Tablets From Benue Summer Tech Bootcamp

More students of the First Benue Summer Tech Bootcamp on Wednesday received digital learning tablets from the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company (BDIC), following the graduation of 102 participants on September 3.

According to Mr. Dooyum Naadzenga, Head of Media at BDIC, some parents—including Vitalis Hwande, Simon Ikagu, Sunday Agbaji, Tikyaa Grace, and Mimi Adingi—received the devices on behalf of their children. They commended the initiative, describing it as a worthy investment in the education and future of young people.

Governor Hyacinth Alia, in a message delivered at the event, said the programme represents a bold step in equipping youths with digital skills that will shape the future of Benue State. He pledged to expand the training to all 23 Local Government Areas, stressing that “the youth remain the foundation of re-engineering Benue’s economy through technology.”

Naadzenga further quoted the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of BDIC, Gbande Terwase Hembaor, as saying the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to build a digitally skilled generation capable of competing globally while addressing local challenges.

The Summer Tech Bootcamp, organised by BDIC, aligns with the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda under the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

Parents and students present at the event expressed strong support for the initiative, noting its potential to improve educational outcomes and expand opportunities in the digital economy.
