Uk-Based Operation Zenda Ex-Commander Mourns Slain Officers In Benue

United Kingdom-based security expert and retired commander of Operation Zenda, Dr. Justine Gberindyer, has paid tribute to police officers recently killed in Benue State, describing their deaths as a painful reminder of the enormous sacrifices made by security personnel.

In a condolence message, Gberindyer extended sympathy to the Benue State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, and the bereaved families, stressing that the country has lost some of its finest men in uniform.

“It pains me to reflect on the loss of these gallant officers, some of whom I had the privilege to command before my retirement. Their untimely passing is a heavy burden on my heart, and I cannot help but feel a profound sense of sadness,” he said.

The former task force commander noted that the deceased officers were instrumental to peace efforts during his service years, and their bravery would not be forgotten.

“I join the government and the good people of Benue State in mourning the heroic lives that were so tragically cut short. Their sacrifice serves as a sobering reminder of the daily risks that our dedicated men and women in uniform undertake to ensure the safety and security of our communities,” Gberindyer remarked.

While offering prayers for the grieving families and colleagues, he urged Nigerians to remember the officers not just for their service but for their courage.

“As we grapple with this tremendous loss, I want to express my sincerest sympathies to the families and colleagues of these brave officers, as well as to the entire Nigeria Police Force. I can only hope that the Almighty grants them eternal rest and provides comfort to all who mourn,” he added.

Gberindyer emphasized that their sacrifice should deepen national appreciation for security operatives who confront danger daily.

“We owe these fallen heroes a debt of gratitude that words cannot adequately express. They were not just officers; they were the embodiment of courage and dedication to our nation. I stand with you all in remembrance of their servi

ce,” he stated.
