Invite Governorship Aspirants To Discuss Development, Speaker Urges NUJ

Former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon, Ambassador Terhemen Tarzoor advises the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Benue State Council on the need to invite all governorship aspirants for interaction on development of the state.

The Nigeria's immediate past Ambassador to Namibia advised the union in opinion expressed during the visit to renew ties with the media at the NUJ Secretariat, Makurdi. He noted that Benue belonged to all indigenes of the state and so, embracing everyone would avail information by the public to elect the best leader. 

On a related development, the former Speaker who contested 2015 governorship election in the state on the platform of the People's Democratic Party PDP explained that as one who aspired to govern the state, he saw the leadership position as a big shoe and determined to wear, but the opportunity did not come. He acknowledged that since Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia serves the state today as Governor wearing the shoe, what Governor Alia has put on ground justified support for his reelection to complete the execution of projects started.

He said "I aspired to govern and I saw the shoe I was trying to wear. It was big and I can best imagine that someone fits into it is doing some of those things I can see on ground. I am one hundred percent convinced that it is the right part to go." 

The Ambassador said "I want my voice heard as "Terhemen Tarzoor and any other person who believes in me in the context performance by the Governor has not erred!"

Under the circumstance, the former Speaker expressed the support for the administration of Fr. Alia to succeed. Former Speaker Tarzoor reminded that he would speak performance of the government to enable people of the state consider performance, not sentiment! The Ambassador expressed worry that the successive leaderships preferred not to continue with the projects their predecessors started. Rt. Hon Tarzoor opined that the trend tended to underdevelop the state and that the situation justified support for Governor Alia's reelection to complete those projects. 

On the question why he seems to have left Senator George Akume, SGF, believably the former Speaker's mentor? The former Ambassador said "I appreciate what Senator Akume has done for my life. He is my leader, he my father, he nominated me and the President appointed me as Nigeria's Ambassador to Namibia. I thank him.

The Ambassador remarked that since he has personal opinion with the capacity to express on what as human being, would make like minds support, the numerous life enjoying projects Governor Alia has executed made him the best for reelection. Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber thanked the former Speaker for choosing the union's secretariat to address journalists on issues of developing the state.
