Protect Gboko Bakery Factory — BIPC

The management of the Benue State Investment and Property Company (BIPC) has advised the Gboko community to take ownership of the newly built and commissioned bread-making factory in Gboko town by ensuring that the facility is protected against the activities of saboteurs.

The Managing Director of the company, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, made the appeal during the commissioning of the factory in Gboko. Asemakaha said, “People of Gboko, this bakery is yours. We urge you to own it, protect it, and patronize it. Let the sweet aroma of freshly baked bread be the scent of progress and prosperity for this great community.”

Appreciating the Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, for what he described as “the visionary leadership that has made this project and many others a reality,” Dr. Asemakaha noted that the Governor’s commitment to industrializing Benue State was what kept the company driven every single day.

He stated that the commissioning marked a milestone in economic revitalization, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to inclusive development for the people. “When we embarked on this mission, our vision was clear — to turn Benue State from a consumption-based economy into a manufacturing powerhouse,” he said.

According to him, the bakery represents a major step toward achieving that goal, focusing on two key areas: stabilizing market prices and creating real jobs.

On price stability, he explained that the availability of high-quality bread would encourage healthy competition among producers and marketers, thereby ensuring affordability for families within and outside Gboko.

The Managing Director further stated that the facility would create both direct and indirect jobs for many families, including opportunities in sales, distribution, and local supply of the products to consumers. He urged residents to take advantage of the project to improve their livelihoods, noting that it would engage the youth meaningfully and discourage their indulgence in unproductive social media activities.

Asemakaha, who described the facility as part of the first phase of BIPC’s expansion drive across Benue, noted that Gboko was a major industrial and commercial hub, second only to Makurdi, the state capital. He added that the factory was a testament to the value of partnership between government and committed organizations like BIPC in developing communities.

He further disclosed that Otukpo would be the next town to benefit from the establishment of another bakery under the company’s expansion plan.

Appreciating Governor Alia and the management of BIPC for extending the bakery project to Gboko, the Tor Jemgbagh, His Royal Highness Afatyo Ajuku, remarked that the involvement of traditional rulers would guarantee the safety of the project and ensure prosperity for his subjects.
